hmm i thought i posted this earlier but it doesnt seem to have worked, anyway, I asked for advice about painting directly onto film a few weeks ago. Ive had a great deal of success creating images by coating a strip of bleached fim with rubbing alcohal applying vitrail (a glass paint) by dripping from above with an eye dropper and then dripping on more alcohal in order to break up the solid drops of paint into wonderful flowing organic shapes. The films look wonderful and varied and im extremely excited to watch them. The only problem is that they get about 3 or 4 frames in and then stick in the projector. At first i thought that leftover paint was clogging the perforations but ive very carefully cleaned them and still find it sticking. After examining my projector and theglobs of paint stuck in the film track ive realized that because the glass paint dries somewhat goopy the film is getting stuck. I think that the best approach would be to add some sort of spray on finish or enamel as a means of adding a solid coat of something glossy or slick enough that it will help the transmision of the film through the projector. Does anyone have any suggestions? I understand that this isnt the kind of thing that comes up frequently for most film makers so any kind of speculative suggestion would be appreciated, thanks a lot for the help
